David Godfrey the nature photographer specialising in Wildlife around Melbourne. Also a Melbourne based landscape photographer.
Hello, my name is David Godfrey, a Melbourne, Australia based Nature Photographer. Welcome to my website.
I have been a passionate photographer all my life. I was first hooked by watching my father taking photographs when I was a child. When I was about 12, I was given a Kodak Brownie Starlet camera as an Easter present. Four years later, with a friend, I started developing my own films and then the magic really started.
To further my digital imaging capabilities, I completed a Diploma of Photography and Photo Imaging at Melbourne Polytechnic, Fairfield Campus in 2017.
In April 2018, I was awarded 2018 Finalist for AIPP Victorian Epson Emerging Photographer Award, with two silver awards and a silver distinction award.
At the AIPP APPA Awards in September 2016, my print of the 'Darter in the afterglow' won the highest scoring print in the Science, Wildlife and Wild Places category.
The joy I get of seeing a moment, and capturing that moment, is still with me today.
I am often asked by friends “where do you see what you photograph?”, because even though they walk the same paths, they do not see what I see.
Jonathon Swift, the Irish-born English satirist, puts it so well when he said, “Vision is the art of seeing things invisible”.
